Shop Furls Hooks & Wander Yarn Now 2023 Crochet Foundry Blog Hop Lion Brand Heartland – Heartland has a similar feel, but it’s not shiny and the colors are heathered and tweed rather than solid.Caron Simply Soft – this yarn has a similar sheen to Wander, but feels a bit more dense.Keep in mind that your cowl might not have the same gauge or drape as if you used Furls Wander. You could grab your favorite worsted weight acrylic yarn, or try one of the yarns below. Unfortunately, there’s not an exact gauge-match substitution for Wander yarn. For product photos and pattern photos, Furls hooks add an extra something special. I find myself reaching for Odysseys when I’m using worsted weight yarns (like Furls Wander) and the Streamlines when I’m crocheting with thicker yarn (like the super bulky yarn used in this chunky blanket pattern). Compared to the Odyssey hooks, the Streamlines are longer and lighter. The wood Streamlines are beautiful and highlight the natural wood grain. My L 7.0 mm hook (shown in the video tutorial) is a teak Streamline. You can also see the blue and navy Odyssey hooks featured in the photos. I used the purple and nickel Odyssey when crocheting the Misty Infinity Cowl. The Furls Odyssey hooks are ergonomic and come in lovely, glittery colors. You’ll need an L 7.0 mm hook for the starting chain (unless you chain loosely) and a K 6.5 mm hook for the body of the infinity cowl. The Misty Infinity Cowl needed some extra drape, so I reached for a larger hook than what’s recommended on the Wander package. However, Furls has over 30 colors of Wander to choose from, including beautiful brights and neutrals. You Should Craft is all about the blues and grays, so you’ll see Mist (a gorgeous light gray) and Laguna (a light navy blue) in the infinity cowl photos and video. Each 100 gram ball of Wander has 120 yards (109 meters) of yarn and costs just $5. Wander is easy to work with isn’t as splitty as similar yarns (like Caron Simply Soft). It’s a worsted weight acrylic yarn that’s soft, luxurious, and has a bit of a sheen. I first used Wander on last year’s Wander Necktie. Winter scarves should be soft and warm, so I reached for Furls Wander yarn for the Misty Infinity Cowl pattern.
